COUNTING THE COST
Starting a race is not the same as finishing.
It is the same way in a Christian's life.
There will be many things that you will meet before the finish line.
Therefore it is very important to count the cost.
Am I willing to give Jesus everything?
The bigger the commitment is, the less is the risk of not finishing. (And with 100% commitment, you will finish 😊)
Jesus said:
For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. (Luk 14:28-30)
Then He continued to say:
So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. (Luk14:33)
Jesus also said:
Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. (Luk14:34-35)
It seems to me that Jesus likens a person with low commitment to salt that loses its savor.
I don't want to be cast out. I want to count the cost every day.
Jesus ended by saying:
"He that hath ears to hear, let him hear." (Luk 14:35)
